My birthday was this past weekend. Adam did a fantastic job of arranging a series of surprises throughout the weekend. He seriously put a lot of work into planning everything. Thinking back, I also can’t believe how nonchalant he was about all of the surprises. Usually this guy can’t keep presents a secret because he gets too excited to give them to the person. I think it might have been my best birthday ever.
On Friday, we had a simple dinner at home and went on a walk. I was told we had to be home by 6. Shortly after 6, Adam’s parents and youngest sister showed up to babysit Henry. Adam and I went out to see a movie for the first time since Henry was born.
We woke up early on Saturday to go have coffee and read at Caribou. After coming home and feeding Henry, I was told that I should have a quick bite to eat so that I wouldn’t be hungry until later in the afternoon. While I was eating, my friend since elementary school showed up with her husband and baby. Adam had arranged pedicures for us at the Ivy while the dads would watch the boys. I hadn’t had a pedicure for years so I was certainly pleased. Alisha and I got the chance to catch up and share all of our new mom stories while we got pampered. We ordered wings from D-Spot and played with the babies for the rest of the afternoon. Neither Henry nor Colin were very interested in each other. I can’t wait for them to start playing together.
On Sunday, we read at Caribou again in the morning and then did a grocery run. Some friends stopped over in the afternoon to swoon over Henry. Adam’s family showed up again to take me out for my birthday dinner. We went to Yardhouse and I got a special mini dessert to celebrate.
I’m so thankful to have such an amazing husband who put together all of these surprises. It was the perfect combination of relaxation and celebration.
